Overview:
Clara Curd Morrow was born on June 21, 1896 in Somerset, Kentucky, where she lived on College Street next to Somerset High School. Clara was a beautiful girl, whose contagious smile was mounted beneath a head of long, curly hair.
On January 25, 1907, tragedy struck the Morrow Family when Clara died following a bout with meningitis. In the days that followed, the little girl’s body was buried in Somerset Cemetery, where the community hoped that she would rest in peace. It wasn’t long, however, before the ghost of Clara Morrow was seen near the site of the accident.
Today, more than a century later, the little girl’s restless spirit is still said to roam the halls of Somerset High School, which is not far from where Clara Morrow once lived. Her spirit has also been seen in Section 13 of Somerset Cemetery, where she was laid to rest. Clara Morrow Field near Somerset High School has also become a point of interest for those curious about the legend.
