Nestled in a valley at the foot of Sugar Hill, Soule’s Chapel has been a fixture of Pulaski County, Kentucky for nearly two hundred years. During the American Civil War, half of the congregation at Soule’s Chapel supported the Union, while the other half supported the Confederacy. This caused a schism in the church, which ultimately led to the decline and abandonment of building. In the years that followed, the old meetinghouse slowly fell into ruin, eventually becoming a gathering place for unsavory sorts.
It was during this time of desolation and decay that Soule’s Chapel was said to have become the subject of a haunting. Today, Soule’s Chapel is considered to be one of the most haunted locations in Kentucky, and it has become a staple for paranormal investigators, many of which claim to have encountered ghostly phenomena at the site, including a woman in a white dress.
